A patio is only as good as what’s under it.
Interlocking pavers and natural stone give you a surface that can take furniture, a barbecue, foot traffic and years of weather — as long as it’s built properly. Most sunken, heaving or weedy patios weren’t built with a deep enough, well-compacted base, or water wasn’t directed away from them.
We start with layout and grade, dig out to the right depth, lay geotextile fabric, and build up a compacted granular base in lifts before a single paver goes down. Then the edges get restrained so the field can’t creep, and the joints get locked with polymeric sand.

Interlocking pavers
Durable, repairable and available in dozens of shapes and colours. Individual pavers can be lifted and re-set if needed.
Large-format slabs
Clean, modern lines with fewer joints. They need a precise base and bedding to sit dead flat.
Natural stone
Flagstone and cut stone for a softer, one-of-a-kind finish that suits gardens and cottage properties.
Borders & inlays
Soldier courses, contrasting bands and inlays that frame the patio and tie it to the house.
Steps & landings
Stone or block steps that connect the patio to a door, deck or lower level of the yard.
Fire-pit pads & seating
Built-in seating walls and pads sized for a fire pit and the chairs around it.
How we build it
Six layers. No shortcuts.
Every patio we build uses the same sequence — the part that decides whether it stays flat for years or starts sinking after a few winters.
- 01Polymeric sand
Swept into the joints and set with water. Locks the pavers together and keeps weeds and ants out.
- 02Pavers
The surface you see. Material, colour and pattern are chosen with you at the design stage.
- 03Bedding layer
Screeded flat by hand so every paver sits at the right height — no dips, no wobbly stones.
- 04Compacted granular base
Crushed stone placed and compacted in lifts. This carries the load and is what keeps a patio flat through freeze–thaw.
- 05Geotextile fabric
Separates the base from the soil so the two don’t mix — the hidden reason older patios sink.
- 06Compacted subgrade
Native ground dug to depth, compacted, and graded so water runs away from the house.

Sunken or heaving pavers
Usually a base or drainage problem — the fix is underneath, not on top.
Weeds and ants in the joints
Joint sand has washed out. Re-sanding helps; a failing base needs more.
Water pooling or running toward the house
The patio wasn’t pitched right. Worth fixing before it affects your foundation.
Edges spreading out
Missing or failed edge restraint lets the whole field creep.

How long does a patio last?
A properly built interlock patio can last for decades. Longevity comes down to the base, drainage and edge restraint — which is why we don’t cut corners there.
Pavers, slabs or natural stone — which is best?
It depends on the look you want, how the space is used and your budget. We’ll show you options side by side when we quote.
Can you repair my existing patio instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If the base is sound, we can lift, re-level and re-sand sections. If the base has failed, we’ll tell you honestly.
Is the work guaranteed?
We’re fully insured and all of our work comes with a limited workmanship warranty — ask us for the details when we quote.
When is the best time to build?
Spring through fall. Booking early in the year gives you the most scheduling choice.
